Our goal is to collect data that will lead to a better understanding of ghosts and hauntings. In the process of pursuing that goal, we also wish to aid any individuals who are having problems dealing with or understanding a paranormal situation. We hope to do this by educating them as to the true nature of their individual situation and giving them the information and understanding to create a livable resolution for the person and the spirit. We also assist people who cannot live with their situations by putting them in contact with trained persons who are more experienced and who can assist them. We are open-minded to all theories and methods as this is still not an exact science. Everyone in the field of super-natural research learns as they go. Hopefully, in the end, we will collect the necessary proof and field-tested theories that are vital to bringing the subject of paranormal research into the mainstream.
We are a group who searches out possible paranormal activity in the State of Ohio.
We are a down to earth group of folks with full time jobs and families who also enjoy a good investigation!
We do not use psychics in our investigations, nor do we believe in the use of ouija boards or seances to contact spirits.
We use the latest in technology to document paranormal activity, and if it is deemed warranted by us, we may contact a member of the clergy to assist in blessing a home to aid spirits in finding their way to the other side.
(We cannot "guarantee" a "cleansing" and will never claim to be able to do so, but will help as much as we can)
Who We Are
Dave Frevert founded Springfield Ghost Hunter in August of 2004, added three members and it grew to become the Springfield Ghost Hunters Society. We officially became a group in May 2005, started with 6 members but added 6 additional members after we were featured in the Springfield News/Sun newspaper and the Dayton Newspaper website.
We are more active from May to December but will do investigations year around if there is request or availability. Several members are seasoned paranormal investigators---over 10 years experience.
(not experienced because they watched Ghost Hunters, but by their own personal experiences, even though its a great show in our honest opinion)
We are scientific based and do not use psychics, mediums or Wicca.
The people of our group are from all backgrounds and educational levels.
Im Dave Frevert (the founder of SGHSociety) and I work at Honda as a painter. My wife Dorothy is an LPN with a nursing home. Kathy W. is an investigator—Child Abuse--as a profession (15 years) and is the co-founder of our group. Her husband Gary works in Dayton, Ohio and is a computer expert.
Dave A. is on disability, worked for Pepsi and now creates Halloween props on the side for sale. Since he can not go out on investigations as much due to his condition, he does analysis for the team. His sister in-law Deb E. is an RN in a Dayton area hospital.
Our ages range from 30 to 60’s.
We use digital cameras, video camera’s with infra-red, geiger counters, infra-red thermometers, EMF detectors, etc and we are well versed in their operation.
Investigations
We take trips as a group if possible to public or semi-private locations.
We conduct private investigations within someone’s home or business upon request.
We post pictures of all our public investigations on our site, whether or not they show any paranormal activity due to email requests to do so.
Private investigations will not be displayed on our site without strict written permission from the owner of the investigated property. We have forms that need to be completed before we begin ANY private investigation.

We also have photos and video evidence,
some of which are explainable, some not.
We leave it to the viewer to decide.
Other groups
Our group likes to contact other paranormal groups around Ohio to do joint ghost hunts.
Sometimes, it helps to have higher numbers of investigators due to the sheer size of a location.
The groups we join up with also have seasoned investigators, and are interviewed before we accept them into an investigation.
